Hjorring, Denmark -- Dana Cup

After a short bus ride from Goteburg, Sweden, we arrived to load the ferry. The ferry ride was about 2-3 hours to Fredrickshavn, Denmark. We then got on another bus to head to Hjorring, Denmark. Here are some pictures from downtown Hjorring...

One day we took the train to Hirtshals, Denmark to go to the Nordsoen Oceanarium... here are some pictures from the Oceanarium...
The huge tank--

Train tracks from Hirtshals... All 4 of our teams were chosen to represent the USA in the march through Hjorring for the Opening Ceremony. Here are some pictures...

Here is a picture from the top of the stands of the Opening Ceremony for the Dana Cup... One day after games, we had some time to waste. Some of my team decided to take the bus to the beach, but since it was rainy, Garret and I decided we would stay back and figure something else to do. Some of my team along with some of the u16 boys stayed back... We decided it would be fun to go Go-Cart racing...

One of the moms is a yoga instructor... She did yoga with the girls the night before our quarterfinal and semi-final games!

We unfortunately lost 0-1 in our semi-final match. We ended up in 3rd place out of about 52 teams in our age group in the Dana Cup. That night there was a ceremony for all 3rd place teams to get their trophie and medals.

On our last day in Denmark, we took the train to a city called Aalborg. We were told they had a cute shopping area and a castle. Here is downtown Aalborg...
Here is the "so-called" castle... nothing like the fortress we saw in Sweden. We found two old churches. The first one was called the Budolfi Kirke.

We don't know what the other one was called because they kicked us out! Oops!

We also went to the Franciscan Friary, which was underground. Very interesting.

The trip was a blast, but it was definitely nice to come home -- to eat American food, sleep in an actual bed instead of a cot, and have a hot shower by yourself without people showering right next to you. It wasn't a luxurious trip, but it was awesome! Two weeks is a long time... Garret and I are still struggling from the jet lag... you don't realize how bad an 8 hour time difference can hit you!
